Latest DfE guidance for schools post July 19th

Schools COVID-19 operational guidance (

Dear Parent(s) and Carers,

Here is the latest guidance from the DfE following the end of the lockdown restrictions. As we only have eight working days left before the end of the term, we will continue as we have been doing since the start of lockdown.

From July 19th Schools can:

  • End bubbles – although schools may wish to continue with bubbles until the end of the summer term.

So, this means that from September 2nd, we will revert to our usual times: 8:45 am start and 3:15 pm finish, playtimes altogether and usual practises i.e. assemblies resume and lunches in the hall.

For the final eight working days, we will carry on with staggered start and end times, the one-way system and keeping our bubbles.

  • Breakfast club – please continue to book spaces for the rest of this term. From September we can accommodate more children and you will be able to send your child without booking.
  • Tracing close contacts

Close contacts will be identified through ‘track and trace’ meaning that whole bubbles may not have to close.

From August 16th, children under 18 won’t have to self-isolate even if they are contacted by track and trace as being a close contact. They will be advised to have a PCR test and isolate if that is a positive result.

  • Face coverings Are no longer required to be worn – however, we would encourage parents / visitors to continue wearing them until the end of the summer term.

If the school is contacted by Public Health England (PHE), due to an outbreak, they may be reintroduced as a temporary measure.

  • Lateral Flow tests

Keep regular testing over the summer holidays and until the end of September. If you have a positive LFT, you will need to isolate and have a PCR test.

  • PE

In September, we will continue with children coming to school in their PE kits when they are having PE.

We look forward to resuming a ‘normal service’ from September 2nd, something that we haven’t been able to do since March 23rd 2020!
